YAV is a Belgian-Congolese singer, songwriter, producer, movement artist and model whose work exists at the intersection of music, performance and visual storytelling.

Originally rooted in gymnastics and the contemporary dance world, YAV spent years collaborating with various internationally recognized choreographers before launching his own choreographic practice in 2018.

His multidisciplinary approach to performance quickly gained attention across both the fashion and art worlds.

Over the years, YAV has been featured in publications including VOGUE NL, i-D, GLAMCULT and Numéro Netherlands, while also being recognized as one of the emerging talents in dance in the NRC Top 101 List in 2020.

Alongside his artistic practice, he has worked as a model and movement director for global brands such as Armani, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Balenciaga.

He also participated in Beyoncé’s Black Is King as both choreographer and dancer, further expanding his experience within large-scale visual and performance

productions.

In 2021, YAV premiered his performance work Movements of Soul, which was later selected for Aerowaves ’24, further establishing his presence within the European performance landscape.

Since mid-2021, YAV has been composing and producing his own music, developing a sound that merges elements of Afro-pop, alternative pop, spoken word, rhythm-driven storytelling and experimental influences into a deeply personal artistic universe.

In February 2024, YAV released his debut single WHY, followed by his debut EP ERUPTION on March 22nd, marking the beginning of his musical journey as a recording artist.
